Project Overview
This project involved designing a mobile app for We Run Nairobi — a community-driven run club based in Nairobi. The goal was to create a simple, empowering tool that helps runners stay consistent, track their progress, join weekly sessions, and stay connected with the WRN community.
The app enhances WRN’s offline running culture by offering a digital companion that is lightweight, intuitive, and built for everyday use. My work included defining features, mapping runner journeys, improving usability, and designing clear, motivational interfaces that support both new and seasoned runners.
My Approach
I took a user-centered, community-first approach grounded in understanding how runners interact with the club—before, during, and after each run.
Through interviews, observation of WRN run sessions, and feedback from captains and members, I identified the most essential mobile needs: discovering runs, tracking participation, monitoring progress, and staying engaged with the club’s weekly rhythm.
These insights informed a design focused on simplicity, motivation, and habit-building. Using iterative prototyping and continuous feedback from runners, I built an experience that turns WRN’s real-world energy into a digital platform that encourages consistency, progress, and community connection.
